Our grand old girl has gone.. GLR Swallow was laid to rest this week. The end of an era for us.

Swallow was our foundation mare at Sunny River ASH and that she will be greatly missed is an understatement.

She was the matriarch and ran the place at Sunny River without question... she was small but mighty..

Purchased as a weanling and one of the last Rivoli Reward-IS fillies from David & Sue Wilson at Glen Lee ASH stud in Gilgandra.

Swallow started her show career as a young horse winning many ASH classes in led and then under saddle in ridden events. An ASH Branch, State and multiple Royal Show Champion and much more..I have boxes of her prizes, ribbons and sashes attesting to her ASH show career. We did a lot of shows and a lot of travelling with her. She was a lovely ASH type, well put together, but also opinionated and tough, a great horse to ride - once you understood her..

Her dam was a taffy, as was three of her siblings, I hoped maybe she would foal a taffy one day - but she didn't..
I also hoped that she would one day have a filly - but she didn't.. that was typical of Swallow.. she preferred to present me with colts instead and in any other colour...

She was awesome to take mustering, working all day at the same pace, happy poking along with the cattle in the dust.

Swallow came into her own as a sensational broodmare, never an issue breeding and foaled down easily.
